AT A GLANCE
The answer in three lines.
- What was built
- A self-serve sales portal giving vendors secure access to daily, weekly, monthly, and year-to-date performance across three marketplace locations.
- What changed
- Routine revenue and product questions moved from staff-prepared reports into an on-demand vendor workflow.
- Evidence
- 39 vendor workspaces prepared, about 10 hours of recurring monthly reporting addressed, and infrastructure below $20 per month.
vendor workspaces
Each scoped to the vendor’s performance across the marketplace network.
reporting views
Daily, weekly, current month, previous month, and year to date.
monthly work addressed
Estimated from the previous reporting process.
monthly infrastructure
Without an enterprise vendor-platform subscription.
The situation
Three distinct retail marketplace locations stock products from 39 local vendors in total. Each location carries its own vendor mix: there is overlap across the three marketplaces, but the assortment is not identical.
Every vendor needs to understand revenue, trends, and product performance across the locations where its products are carried.
The team handled those needs through a monthly reporting cycle plus ad-hoc requests between reports. Staff repeatedly assembled answers while vendors still worked from information that could be days or weeks old.
The build
The portal gives each vendor a secure, self-serve view of their own sales data across the marketplace network. Vendors can examine daily, weekly, current-month, previous-month, and year-to-date performance, then identify their best-selling products.
The questions that previously entered an email workflow can now be answered directly by the vendor without requiring a staff member to prepare another report.
The application was built internally without outside development spend or an enterprise software subscription. Current infrastructure remains below $20 per month.
The results
- Thirty-nine vendor workspaces are prepared for production rollout across three marketplace locations.
- The system addresses an estimated ten hours of recurring monthly report preparation.
- Routine revenue and product questions move into an on-demand, self-serve workflow.
- Vendors gain fresher information while the internal team removes a recurring reporting burden.
Why it matters
This is a practical example of custom software becoming economically viable for a smaller operator. The business gets a workflow shaped around its real relationships instead of adapting itself to an enterprise platform.
The deeper benefit is relational: vendors receive transparent access to information about their own livelihood and can make better production and restocking decisions.
